Whether you are a new mom or you have had kids for a while, it may well be the case that you are trying to get back into shape or include some more fitness activities as a central part of your everyday life. There are plenty of easy and gentle exercises that can really prove to provide you with the base level of fitness that you are looking for, as well as enhance your life in so many different ways.

1. Walking

To start off with, you do not need to go overly complicated. Simply walking every day is a great way of getting your heart pumping, and it can also do wonders for your mental health at the same time. There is something about the fresh air and the opportunity to think that can really do a lot for you. Not only this, but it can be an excellent thing to do that ensures you are also spending time with your kids – whether you are pushing them along in a stroller or they are able to start walking alongside you. You can gradually start to increase the distance as and when you would like to.

2. Swimming

There is no doubt that swimming is an excellent all over body workout that is more than worth building into your everyday routine. First of all, it is low impact, which means that if you have any injuries or stiff muscles they are unlikely to stop you. At the same time, you are also giving your heart and lungs a good and proper workout. Again, this is the type of activity that you can start off small and gradually start to build up over time. There is also a great sense of relaxation to be gained at the same time.

Yoga is another one of those activities that have plenty of general mental health benefits that are built in alongside the physical ones. As well as helping to strengthen and tone up your muscles, there are also the natural advantages of ensuring that back pain is kept to a minimum, and it can also prove to be gentle on your body. There are many yoga videos online that you can complete for all different levels, just find an instructor you like. However, if you are looking to build in some more social elements, there is no doubt that a class environment can certainly provide this for you.

4. Dumbbell Exercises

If you are looking to build some equipment into your regular workouts, Mirafit dumbbells are an excellent choice that allows you to complete a whole range of different workouts depending on the goals that you are trying to accomplish. While there are plenty of upper body benefits that can be achieved with a set of dumbbells, there are also lower body workouts that you can do at the same time. You may wish to start off with a light set that gives you a good jumping off point. Alternatively, you can always go for some adjustable ones that give you the option of building up over time if you would like to.

5. Pilates

There is no doubt that if you have had a baby recently, Pilates is one of those recommended workouts that can prove to offer so many different benefits. A big part of it comes down to the fact that you are able to build up some muscles that may well have become weakened during pregnancy. There is also a certain relaxing element that is worth discussing. Since it is a relatively low impact set of exercises, there is less of a chance that you are going to sustain any type of injury, which is certainly another plus point that is more than worth bearing in mind. There are also plenty of specific Pilates workouts that are targeted at new moms, which can obviously prove to be particularly effective and desirable to complete.

All of these are among some of the easy and gentle exercises that are more than worth completing as a mom. Ultimately, you can try them all out to see which ones suit you the most or perhaps decide that one specific option is going to be the right one for your own set of needs and requirements. You won’t really know until you get started.
